Saturday started out with Breakfast at Good. They had some truly unique and
wonderful breakfast foods. I highly recommend it. Then we did a little shopping
around the village at places like Alphabets and MXPLYXZ. Then we took the subway
allll the way up to the tip top of the island to visit The Cloisters. It's this
really amazing little museum dedicated to Medieval art. That in-and-of-itself
would hold very little interest for me, but a Rockefeller (John D possibly)
built this cool castle-style specifically to house all of these pieces and it's
really neat. It's also got this really really pretty garden and the ride through
the park to get to it is really cool too. We spent lots of time there. I took
tons of pictures.
After The Cloisters, my travel journal says we did more shopping but I cannot
figure out for what, so I'll not write about it, and then we went to Japonica.
That was (obviously) a Japanese restaurant and a very good one at that. We had
oooodles of sushi and plum wine and tempura. Grandma tried to order chardonnay,
but that wasn't good and so the manager took her under his wing and offered
her about every kind of alcohol they had in the place. She tried tons of wines
and sakes and I don't think she ever did find anything she liked real well,
but he was very sweet and we had a great time. Did I mention we had lots of
wine?
