On Thursday we slept in again and met Kelly at a nearby subway stop and went to avenue Deli for lunch. I had something called a Knish, which wasn't my favorite. It was rather doughy and meaty, but whatever. The whole meal was sort of an experience though. Lots of food I've never seen before.

After lunch, we were walking around and enjoying the sights ... and I had to pee. So we ducked into a Starbucks and I waited in line for the bathroom. After about 15 minutes, this dude (?!) finally came out and I went in and we were on our merry way. We went over to Kiehl's and checked out their lovely products. I flunked shopping, however, since I wasn't out of my grapefruit scented lotion.

Then we made our way uptown to the Gugenheim only to find out that it's closed on Thursdays and we couldn't go. So we went over ot the Plaza and high tea. Wow. Reading this, it sounds like all we did was eat. But seriously. There were hours worth of traveling and poking around in shops between 2nd Avenue Deli/Starbucks and the Plaza. Anyhoo, that was kinda neat. I'd only been to High Tea once before and it's just a neat experience. I had some really nice vanilla/maple tea (I think) and we had a bunch of sandwiches (some of which were good, others that had pond scum water cress in them), scones (with jam) and little mini deserts. Vair vair fun and good.

After the plaza, Mom and Grandma went back to the hotel to rest before dinner and Kelly and I went off on our own. We walked down 5th Avenue linked to one another like Lavernne and Shirley for warmth and went to Saks Fifth Avenue and looked at all the fun/outrageous displays. Then we went downtown (I think) near Kelly's dorm and visited The Strand (18 miles of books). We were on a bit of a time budget, so I was only able to find three books to buy, but I know I will be back!!

After Kelly changed at our dorm, we met Mom at the hotel and the three of us went to Aqual Grille for dinner. That was probably one of the best meals we had while we were in NYC (and that's saying something!). Kelly and Mom had lots of oysters on the half shell (I gamely tried one, but alas, they are still too slimey for me) and we had lovely truffle-encrusted cod (I'm writing this like weeeeks later and I still remember ... LOL).
